I’m delighted to welcome you to Abbey HR’s website. I established Abbey HR in 2011 with a vision to provide expert, seamless Human Resources support that gives business owners and managers confidence in their HR processes, people management and compliance. I am passionate about supporting employers to achieve best practice HR that not only meets compliance standards but creates more positive, effective and productive workplaces.
I haven’t always been in HR; I spent ten years in accounting and payroll prior to embarking on my HR career. I have a real love for numbers and helping businesses to successfully manage staff overheads. This gives me a unique perspective on business economics and efficiencies, and is also particularly useful when supporting organisations with growth strategies, restructuring and change.
I moved into Human Resources in 1999 while perusing a CIPD qualification in Personnel Management from the National College of Ireland. I spent the following ten years working in “Personnel” for a number of Irish businesses. Then in 2009, I took a leap of faith into the world of HR consulting! I was very fortunate to be introduced to a large accountancy practice which opened doors to two large Irish retail businesses, both of whom I am very proud to continue to work with today. Since then, I have worked with many, many SMEs, family run Irish businesses, and one large Government entity.
HR is a fast-moving industry and a cutting-edge knowledge of the latest trends, initiatives and changes in legislation is vital to creating tailored solutions that fit the needs of each individual business. I am a member of CIPD, the Human Resources industry’s accrediting body, and the Small Firms Association/IBEC which provides access to an expansive network, professional development programs and the latest knowledge around topical issues, employment law and compliance. I am also a member of the Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland, and hold a Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring for Business.
